Erica Ann Flood's photography examines the human life experience, a search that began in her adolescence when her mother died of AIDS. Erica Ann and her sister Rebecca were raised by her maternal grandparents in the rural town of Southampton, Massachusetts. Erica Ann currently lives and works in Easthampton, Massachusetts where she works as an assistant to photographer Robert Lyons and teaches photography & creative writing part-time to adolescent girls in the Girls Eye View Program sponsored by the Youth Action Coalition in Amherst, MA. Erica Ann received her BA in Visual Arts/Photography from Prescott College in 2005.

Born in Italy and raised in Brazil, Frederick Sommer and his wife Frances came to reside in Arizona in 1931 and Prescott, in 1935. Trained in city planning, architecture and landscape architecture, having just survived tuberculosis, Fred decided to continue his interest in design and make images. First he made large watercolors, small drawings and photographs, but after meeting Edward Weston, he purchased an 8" X 10" view camera and started making photographs that the Museum of Modern Art collected early in 1941.
