Printer Recommendations

Laser Printers - The printer of choice is definitely a middle-of-the-road laser if portability and price are of no concern. Just keep in mind that the faster ppm (page per minute) rating, the less you'll be waiting on the printer and the quicker your check-out line will run. Auction Flex has the option to print multiple copies of an invoice,or even print the same invoice to multiple printers at the same time. This gives you the flexibility of printing and invoice with a signature line, or printing to two different printers with separate color paper. You can find this setting in the Buyer Check Out screen under Invoice Auto-Print Options.

Inkjet Printers - Inkjet printers are a good option when price or portability are of concern. Just look for a high page per minute rate (14 or more ppm) for black printouts. The downside to inkjets is that the replacement cartridges are expensive and that they generally use the computer's processing resources to print.

Dot-Matrix Printers - Dot-matrix printers are considerably slower than their more modern cousins (laser and inkjet); however, there are some tricks to increasing their print speed in the Windows environment. The obvious advantage of a dot-matrix printer is the ability to print on multi-part paper. In Auction Flex, dot-matrix printers have only been optimized for printing invoices. For all other reports, we highly recommend you use an inkjet or laser printer. To optimize your dot-matrix for printing invoices in Auction Flex:
1. Turn print quality to draft mode
2. Use the generic Text print driver (found in Windows) instead of the model-specific print driver.
3. In Auction Flex, go to Maintain Options & Settings->Invoice Tab->and select Dot-Matrix Friendly in the Quick Print Which Invoice combo box:
