Maintaining Your Workstation Settings

Top  Previous  Next

There are two different ways to install Auction Flex: as a primary or secondary workstation.  Each choice will, in effect, determine how some of the workstation settings must be set.  If this is a typical primary installation, the workstation settings will look like this:

Workstation_Settings

You will notice that this is for an installation in the default C:\AuctionFlex location.  It is possible, however, to install Auction Flex on a different hard drive letter (i.e. D:\).

The WorkStation Number is set to one because this is the primary workstation and holds the 'Data' folder on it's local hard drive.

If you are installing a secondary workstation, you must manually point the Data Path to your mapped network drive (i.e. X:\).

* Note: After connecting your computers over a network you must 'Map a Network Drive' (typically X) to the 'AuctionFlex' folder on the primary workstation's hard drive.  If you are not comfortable with setting up a multi-workstation environment, we recommend hiring a network-specialist in your local area.

This is done by clicking on the browse button Browse to the right of Data Path and then selecting the X drive. Select_Directory

Now highlight the 'data' folder and click on 'Select'.  All three fields should fill in appropriately and look like this:

Workstation_Settings_X

Next, make sure your WorkStation Number is set to 2 (if you are installing multiple secondary computers, each computer must have a unique WorkStation Number 3, 4, etc...).

Click 'Done' and you are finished.

If you ever see this error:

Unable_to_Open_err

First hit 'No' and you will be exited from Auction Flex.  Go to your "My Computer" or "Computer" (Vista users) and double click on the X: drive to open it.  If the folder opens and you see all the contents of the 'AuctionFlex' folder on your primary workstation, try and open the Auction Flex software again.  If this solution does not resolve the issue, please contact your administrator or network specialist.
