Installation Using Multiple Data Folders

Top  Previous  Next

By default Auction Flex will save all auction information to a single data folder. This allows the complete use of a database for tracking buyers, inventory and sellers. There are customers who need to keep there data in separate folders. These customers run auctions where they do not necessarily need to carry inventory from auction to auction and may need to have auctions run in different places at the same time. Auction Flex can accomplish this by running in Multidata mode. In this mode each auction would create its own set of data folders.Follows the steps below to set up Multi data

1.Install Auction Flex from the Auction Flex installer on your primary computer.

2. Go to My Computer and open your local hard drive (either C or D) and create a folder named AflexData

3. Create a subfolder beneath the AFlexData folder called Main

4. Go to the Auction Flex folder on your local disk

5. Copy the Data, Images, and Reports folders from the Auction Flex folder and Paste them into your c:\AflexData\Main folder

6. Now delete the Data and Images folders from the c:\Auctionflex folder

7. Open the Auction Flex folder right click and select New->Text Document

8. Name this text file "multidata"

Now when you open Auction Flex you will see the Multiple Data Set Manager. This window will prompt you to open a data set or create a new data set from an existing folder.

If you choose to create a new data set simply highlight a current selection and hit the New Button.

You will then be able to choose the new folder name (generally the name of your auction) and which records to copy into your new data set. Under the Auction Info section you will see a unique Auction ID as well as an auction name field. To finish hit Create Data Set and begin work in your new auction.
